1 /5 Thought J “Just a Thought”: Why does Schwab not want clients to talk to folks in the clients local office? The listed number transfers automatically to an 800# call center. We previously had a number that got us through to the local office - that also now routes straight to the 800#. The phone tree has an option to the office which puts us in another looping phone tree and guess what - sluffs us off to the 800# (it also required last 4 of social security number so if you were considering being a client and wanted to talk to someone or make an appointment - good luck). We have asked folks at the 800# to transfer us to the local office and they will not. Why in the world would anyone entrust their money to folks they can only reach by getting in their car and driving to the office? Very, very bad business model.
