1 /5 Jessica Day: I had an unpleasant experience here my very first time in this building. I advised the front desk guy with dark hair and glasses that I wanted to cash my check with a smile and I was very nice about it. He greeted me in a very nice tone and was eager to help however he stated to me “ I’m sorry you have to have an account with us to cash a check.” He then double checked with his colleague who had blond hair & she smiled & re-assured him. Of course I wasn’t distraught behind their policy I was fine with that. But if that’s the case why didn’t they ask me if I wanted to open an account and then the woman leaned over very slightly and saw the writing/coloring and said oh it’s from the treasury that’s a refund. She assumed because it was tax time that was my refund, little does she know that was some of my 401K from my government job. As a federal IRS employee I am truly disappointed at my experience, I left feeling slightly embarrassed by this, they assumed since I was a young woman of color wearing sweats that I wasn’t worth the ask I guess. The team there needs sensitivity training & to promote the brand itself better.
