1 /5 Grace Fairbanks: Updated: I initially posted a review about our disappointing experience at Filling Station, where the service was inattentive and the overall experience fell short of expectations. The owner reached out, promising to “take care of our next visit” to ensure a better experience and asked me to remove a specific staff member’s name from the review, which I did out of good faith. However, when I followed up to ask what specific steps they’d take to make the next visit worthwhile, their response was vague and dismissive, stating they were “handling the matter internally” and pointing to their other positive reviews, although I see a bunch of negative ones as well. This felt like a complete reversal from their initial promise, showing little genuine interest in making things right. It’s clear they’re not committed to addressing concerns in a meaningful way, so we won’t be returning. Save your time and dine elsewhere.
Original review:
Our recent visit to Filling Station was a disappointing experience, marred by poor service and subpar food quality, despite the kitchen’s attempt to salvage the situation.
The standout issue was our waitress, Maddie, a teenage server whose incompetence significantly impacted our meal. Our order—a burger and fries—was left sitting on the counter for over 10 minutes, clearly visible as she repeatedly walked past it. The counter was cluttered with orders not taken to tables or boxed up for the to go order and Maddie’s neglect was glaring. She prioritized taking phone orders and cashing out other customers over delivering our food or even boxing up another customer’s to-go order. It wasn’t until a staff member from the back noticed and brought us our now-cold fries and room-temperature burger that we received our meal. The kitchen, to their credit, quickly prepared fresh fries when we pointed out the issue, but the burger was a letdown. The bottom bun was soggy, cold, and utterly inedible, making the entire dish unappetizing.
While the kitchen’s effort to replace the fries was appreciated, the overall experience was frustrating. Maddie’s lack of awareness and poor prioritization made it clear she was overwhelmed (even though there were only two tables with two people at each table there) or she simply was not up to the task. The restaurant’s ambiance and menu had potential, but the service and food quality need serious improvement. I hope management addresses these issues, as I’d maybe give Filling Station another chance, but this visit was a miss. Not sure if we want to risk it again.
