2 /5 ali tarhini: What happened to the old LA fitness. A series of inconveniences that really have impacted my gym experience have led to this post. Just for context, I have been a member for a little over a year and switch from Crunch (which was a really good gym for the price) only because they lacked a basketball court and swimming pool. Today was the straw that broke that camels back. After my gym session, I left and forgot my gym water bottle. When I got home, I called the gym and the receptionist answered the phone. I asked if she could check to see if the cup was anywhere in the gym (with a specific location of where it was). To which she replied, "Im the only person on staff right now and I cant leave the front desk". Now I get that its not necessarily her job to go out and check, but the receptionists with the exception of one person LITERALLY just sit there with their sippy water bottles and watch TikToks! Pay no attention to whos coming in without any acknowledgment of any of the members with a hello or good morning. Furthermore, the basketball courts are always slippery. The gym equipment is always needing maintenance, they dont take care of their gym equipment. Its just a shame that I pay $35 a month (not counting the annual fee) for sub-par service. Im honestly considering switching to a private gym

1 /5 Amber Perkins: I was a member at this gym for a period of time, but unfortunately, I did not enjoy my experience. I had switched over from Planet Fitness, expecting an upgrade, but found the opposite to be true. Planet Fitness, despite being a more affordable option, was much cleaner and had newer, well-maintained equipment. In contrast, the equipment at LA Fitness was often rusty, dirty, and worn down. The entire facility felt dusty, dimly lit, and not well cared for. It lacked the fresh, energized atmosphere I look for in a gym. At Planet Fitness, staff were consistently walking around cleaning and keeping the space spotless — something I didn’t see much of here. In the end, I decided to leave LA Fitness and join another gym. I won’t be returning.

2 /5 A Robinson: Gym equipment is not well maintained, and often machines are down, ripped, or otherwise unusable. No paper towel, seat covers or towels available ever. Sales team is pushy, unhelpful and borderline harassing (Eman especially). Seems to be a single person cleaning and based on the cleanliness of the gym, they need at least three. That being said, actually gym goers are friendly (except for the fist fight that broke out between an employee and a guest where police had to respond). The classes are also decent, but once again, run down mats and other equipment. You can find a good rotation on the courts.

2 /5 Shirl Coleman: Each LA Fitness location I have trained at was a joke! All of the locations I have visited were filthy. No supervision on the floor so most of the men are sitting around trying to pick up women or, sitting around video taping the female members without their knowledge... Especially the Livonia location on 7 mile and middle belt. The locker rooms are always filthy! Theres no one watching the members or the cameras.... So basically... Anything goes!

1 /5 Cynnea Cornelious: I’ve been to quite a few gyms, but my experience at LA Fitness has been one of the worst. The facility itself is passable, but what truly ruins it is the completely unprofessional behavior of the manager, Yashicka. From day one, her attitude has been rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful. Instead of addressing legitimate concerns or questions from members, she’s condescending and seems more interested in power-tripping than managing a fitness center. I’ve witnessed her speaking to members in a disrespectful tone, ignoring concerns, and even brushing off issues that clearly needed escalation. When I attempted to bring up a billing discrepancy, her response was not only unhelpful but combative — as if I was bothering her by asking for clarification. This is NOT how you treat paying customers. A manager should be the example of professionalism. Sadly, Yashicka is the opposite. I’m seriously reconsidering my membership, and I’d advise others to do the same — or at the very least, avoid this location until there’s a change in management. Your time, money, and sanity are better spent elsewhere.
