1 /5 CHEF RANIA BAHU: I was really disappointed with both the prices and the portion sizes. First off, the sandwiches were barely filled whether it was meat, chicken, or falafel, it felt like I was mostly eating bread.
What really shocked me was being charged $100 for a tray of tabbouleh. And it wasn’t even a deep, full tray it was a low, flat one and $50 for hummus half tray. When I questioned the price, the owner claimed it was due to the cost and labor. As a chef myself, I know that I could have made that same tray in 30 minutes, and for a fraction of the price.
This was all for a donation to Michigan State, and while I genuinely appreciate good flavors the taste was spot on, I won’t lie the quantity and pricing just didn’t make sense. I support small businesses, but there’s a line. When someone tries to justify a $100 tabbouleh with the cost of parsley, tomatoes, onions, and cucumbers, I have to be honest that’s just unreasonable.
I personally won’t be returning ever!
