2 /5 Chad: The biggest reason for my low rating is the pool schedule. The pool is the main draw to Neal Fitness Center—it’s unique in Muskegon, and I was willing to pay a premium membership price just to have access to it. Unfortunately, the open swim hours don’t work for anyone who works a normal first shift (9am–5pm). By the time we are out of work, the pool is already closed. Many of my friends and family have the same concern and decided against joining because they couldn’t bring come after work, and ultimately, my family and I canceled our membership for the same reason. It’s disappointing to have such a great facility, but not make the pool accessible for the very people who need evening hours.
That being said, the rest of the facility is excellent. It’s clean, well-maintained, and offers a wide variety of classes that I truly enjoyed.
• Boot Camp pushed me physically and mentally, with an instructor who kept the energy high.
• Cardio Drumming was a blast—fun, fast-paced, and something different from the usual workout.
• Cycle and Cycle Strong were both motivating and a great cardio burn, especially with the music and group energy.
• HIIT, Kick It, and Heart Hustle gave me a serious workout and left me feeling stronger every week.
• Yoga, Zumba, and Vinyasa Flow were equally rewarding—uplifting, challenging, and fun.
Every class I took was positive, and the instructors were fantastic. More than once I left a class wishing I could finish the evening with a swim—it would have been the perfect balance.
If evening open swim times are added, I will happily update this review to five stars. Until then, it’s hard to justify the premium price when the most unique part of the gym isn’t accessible for people who work during the day.
