5 /5 Marjorie Levinson: Ive worked with Rob Moesta, at Anytime Fitness Ann Arbor (Plymouth Rd) for 4 months now. My husband and I joined through the Silver Sneakers program for U.Mich Medicare clients (maybe others?). The program (free membership!) comes with one complimentary training session. Rob was so great that we signed on for weekly training sessions.
Whats great about him? 1) His knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology. Ask any "why"or "how" question about muscle action and interaction, and the actual mechanics of say, pushing and pulling exercises, and hell give a full clear answer so that you UNDERSTAND what youre doing and can thus do it better. He assesses you for vulnerabilities so you feel safe relying on his judgment of what you can and cant (and also, what you COULD) do; 2) Hes been a trainer and body builder for years, knows all the machines and can improvise if one isnt great for you. His confidence rubs off on you.; 3) He meets you where you are BUT quietly suggests goals (ie, more reps, heavier weights) that are hard but not impossible to meet. You do FAR more than you thought you could; 4) Hes warm, encouraging, relaxed, and in tune with your aims. I wanted to be stronger and more cut. Im 74 and was told that a 40 year old woman who saw me in the gym said she wanted muscles like mine. I can easily lift my grandchildren.
So, signing on for regular sessions isnt cheap (though Robs fees are standard for experienced trainers) but it is SO worth the money in terms of appearance, energy levels (soaring!; used to take daily naps; no more), and health. Because of Rob, my husband and I work out every day: 4 days in our home gym, 3 at Anytime Fitness. Its been retirements BEST boon. And Anytime Fitness 24/7 policy, its mid-size space (not overwhelming but always enough machines for workouts without waiting), its excellent maintenance (clean equipment, bathrooms etc), its varied clientele (age, fitness levels...) -- all these features make it an ideal environment.
